The American Red Cross-Jersey Coast Chapter and Sylvia’s Children want to make this holiday special for the children at the Mbiriizi Advanced Primary School in Uganda, Africa. Will you help?

Whether celebrating Christmas, Hanukkah or Kwanzaa, the holidays are exciting times, especially for children. All of us can remember the excitement and anticipation that came with seeing all the wrapped presents and wondering “What’s inside? Will I get everything I asked for?” And, so many times, our wishes were granted and we received everything we wanted … and more!
If you are an African child, orphaned as a result of the AIDS crisis, there is no excitement, no anticipation. There is no one to provide gifts or lasting memories. You can help us give those children some wonderful memories. To make this possible, we are working with Sylvia’s Children, a 501(c)3 organization that runs the Mbiriizi Advanced Primary School in Masaka, Uganda. The children, when asked what they would like for Christmas, said they wanted their own blanket. Can you imagine an American child having to ask for their own blanket?
We want these children to have the same wonderful memories we have for the holidays. The American Red Cross, Jersey Coast Chapter is teaming up with Sylvia’s Children and the Uganda Red Cross to bring some comfort and happiness to these children this upcoming holiday season. We are asking for your support in providing each child with a shirt and a blanket.
For only $10 a child we can give each of the 1,000 children at the school their own blanket as well as a new shirt. Those gifts, combined with the donation of shoes from Samaritan’s Feet will make a memorable holiday. Can we count on you to help? We are accepting donations of all sizes, from $50 to $5,000 … just remember that each $10 will provide a child with a lasting (and happy) memory of this year’s holiday.
